Action Movie Anatomy hosts Ben Bateman and Andrew Ghai break down Casino Royale with special guest Cathy Kelley!
Casino Royale (2006) is the twenty-first film in the Eon Productions James Bond film series and the first to star Daniel Craig as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. Directed by Martin Campbell and written by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade and Paul Haggis, the film marks the third screen adaptation of Ian Fleming's 1953 novel of the same name. Casino Royale is set at the beginning of Bond's career as Agent 007, just as he is earning his licence to kill. After preventing a terrorist attack at Miami International Airport, Bond falls in love with Vesper Lynd, the treasury employee assigned to provide the money he needs to bankrupt a terrorist financier, Le Chiffre, by beating him in a high-stakes pokergame. The story arc continues in the following Bond film, Quantum of Solace (2008), with implicit and explicit references to characters and events in Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015).

Seems like you guys weren't big Skyfall fans, which is crazy to me but to each his own. I personally love Skyfall slightly more than Casino Royale. Casino Royale is a fantastic film, the way it deconstructs Bond and builds him back up to the Bond we know was great. Totally breaks formula, but Skyfall basically got Craig's Bond up to speed with the classic Bond in a fantastic way.
Quantum of Solace was a huge disappointment, not the worst Bond film I've ever seen but after Casino Royale it was a big drop off. Spectre was not as bad as you guys say it is, in my opinion. It didn't live up to the hype that Skyfall had created, especially with Mendes and Craig coming back, but it was entertaining.
Marion Cotillard and Margot Robbie as Bond-girls. Marion would be the older sohpisticated lady and Margot Robbie would be the younger, more kick-ass type, but also gorgeous. (As typical in Bond-movies).
Great twist on the recast game, master recaster title gets shared this week. Catherine had the best picks for Bond girls but Ben had the best Bonds. He sealed it when he stole my pick, Clive Owen....damn you Bateman!
-Colin Firth, he showed he would be perfect in Kingsmen and if he stays dead in that series (spoilers!), why waste that potential.
-Domnhall Gleeson, he'd probably need to bulk up a little but he's a great actor, plus...1st ginger Bond.
Potential Bond Girls:
-Marion Cottillard, I had to check her filmography b/c she is so perfect I couldn't believe she hasn't already been in a Bond movie.
-Devon Aoki, to be honest in my head I am literally transitioning her character from Sin City into the Bond universe.
+JonasTiger As long as you're participating I got no problem with the critique, I do the same thing to Ben and Andrew by picking a Master Recaster every week! Repost your picks in this thread, I'd love to see them...and judge them! But seriously, l love seeing other peoples picks
+Brian Hurst we are both voicing our opinions i can critique you as well as you can do same to me. In my own mind i already am master recaster....i already had done a recast here but i cannot see it, guess it was deleted somehow
+JonasTiger Since Bond is Scottish I'm sure it would be fine as long as the actor isn't American. Firth is older but so was Moore as would Idris Elba be if they chose him, he was convincing enough for me in Kingsmen, let stunt actors and special FX take care of the rest. Instead of just criticizing my choices why don't you make some of your own picks, try to become the Master Recaster.
not the best choices for bond, Skarsgård is swedish and i only see brit actors to play him. Firth certainly dont look like 007 material and is too old at 55 to start a new cycle. Downhall could work though
